Ohio Senator Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) has reintroduced a bill that would prevent illegal immigrants from filing insurance claims with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) for injuries incurred while working in the state illegally.
Sen. Seitz noted that his proposal, Senate Bill 176 (SB 176), has added significance because of recent decisions by Attorney General Mike DeWine (R) allowing illegal aliens to obtain Ohio driver’s licenses and to attend public colleges at in-state tuition rates.

Two House Republicans hope to overturn a new requirement that allows qualified undocumented immigrants with temporary legal status to get in-state tuition rates at Ohio public colleges.
Rep. Matt Lynch, R-Chagrin Falls, said in a co-sponsor request to House colleagues that DACA was “not intended to be used as a magic wand to suddenly grant citizenship to entire groups of people. Yet this is precisely what has been attempted.”

Rep. Matt Lynch is leading the way on a bill he says would return Ohio to the “status quo ante” following an executive order from President Barack Obama.
House Bill 114, which has gained the support of Ohio Citizens for Sensible Immigration and the Ohio Jobs & Justice PAC, would specify which individuals who are not U.S. citizens are eligible for an Ohio driver’s license or motorcycle operator’s license or endorsement.

Republican state legislators are seeking to take away driver’s licenses from unauthorized immigrants who have been granted temporary amnesty by the federal government.
A bill slated for committee discussion today would reverse a state Bureau of Motor Vehicles policy requiring administrators to issue temporary licenses for immigrants who fall under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals initiative. The BMV clarified its policy in March after a rash of complaints that some of the bureau’s private contractors were turning DACA immigrants away.
